Departure

The gentle wind ruffles my hair as I stand on the destined ground, mustering the courage within to do what must be done. I feel the pull… the force of which threatens to undermine my plan of leaving. It feels as if the people I have known all my life are standing behind me, calling my name, willing me to come back to them.

Tears cascade down my cheek as I leaf through precious memories. Carefree and happy, living day to day, a simple life perhaps, yet all I needed to be happy. But even so, it comes a time when a man must act to the behalf of what matters most to him, and that time is now. Determination surges within me and I dry the tears of my cheeks with a clothed hand before taking a firm step through the gates.
